Several South African jewelry designers and other big names are to exhibit their platinum pieces at a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) event.
To be held at the organisation's headquarters in Carlsbad, California from November, the Best of Platinum show will feature various designs from the Aqua collection and the Plat Africa group.
The former is made up of four pieces from Italy, Japan, China and India and the latter is a set of South African jewelry-makers who recently won a competition to find the best platinum designs from the country.
Kirk Kara, Danhov, Mark Schneider, Michael B, Gurhan, Lisa Kirkawa and Tom Munsteiner will also be showing work at the exhibition.
The show will run until April 30th 2010.
One platinum item from the Qing Dynasty era recently caught the eye of attendees travelling to the four-day International Jewellery London fair, which allows today's up-and-coming designers to show off their latest pieces.
