At the 62nd annual Golden Globe Awards, several trends became very apparent - hues of dark chocolate brown, deep reds, neutral, skin tones and jet black were popular gown colors...And Platinum jewelry was worn by virtually every eye-stopping celebrity to walk down the Red Carpet. This year's Platinum jewelry trends included, long, linear, drop earrings, vintage brooches and right hand rings all with richly colored gemstones in warm hues or brilliant diamonds set on Platinum's naturally white luster. The white wave in Platinum jewelry did not just happen by accident, it is the result of a growing number of celebrities who are coming to appreciate Platinum's purely white, rare and eternal values as a key player in creating their star-status glow.
Chris Aire, Erica Courtney, Kwiat, Mark Lazar, Neil Lane, Sheila Goldfinger, Suna Bros., Suwa & Son (Japan) were among the high-profile jewelry houses to partner with Platinum Guild International USA (PGI) to dress many of the Golden Globe nominees, Hollywood elite, as well as the Red Carpet's most beloved commentators.
"PGI was exceptionally happy to see so many celebrities and their stylists have such a tremendous interest in dressing in one of the world's most precious and rare metals at this year's Red Carpet jewelry suite" said Michael O'Connor, Senior Vice President, Communications and Trade Relations. "The proof is in the pudding, when you actually see just how many celebrities arrived at the Golden Globe Awards in different colors and texture gowns adorned in absolutely stunning jewelry all composed of the same precious, naturally white, metal. It is becoming increasingly evident that Platinum jewelry is important part of the Red Carpet trends," he added.
Actress and Golden Globe presenter Melina Kanakaredes selected Platinum and diamond jewelry from two designers including a spectacular pair of Platinum and pear-shaped diamond drop earrings from newcomer Marc Lazar (valued at $265,000), and a glittering Platinum and diamond bracelet from Suna Bros. (valued at $105,000).
Shaun Robinson (Access Hollywood) also chose to "mix it up" with a simple Platinum and purple colored marquis gemstone cocktail ring by Chris Aire (valued at $15,000), Platinum and diamond earrings by Neil Lane, and a Platinum and diamond bracelet by international designer Suwa & Son Inc. (valued at $45,000).
Michael O'Connor notes that "aside from its physical beauty, celebrities love Platinum for its rarity (30 times more rare than gold) for its durability and weight, and because its pure white luster won't overwhelm them or the gorgeous dresses they wear. Platinum works with every color complexion and fashion while enhancing the natural beauty and sparkle of white or colored diamonds and gem stones."
