Sotheby's to auction rare jewels

A rare and precious collection of jewels will go on sale in Geneva this month at Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels auction.

Among them, a platinum and yellow gold ring mounted with a unique pear-shaped vivid blue VS1 4.16 karat diamond, estimated to fetch between $3.34 and $4.33 million.

The star of the show, however, will be an 84.37 karat, brilliant-cut, d-flawless diamond, valued between $13 and $17.33 million.

Sotheby's will also hold an auction of private lots, the proceeds of which will go towards the World Wildlife Fund. More specifically, a fund has been set up for the money that will go the aid of the giant panda and the Asian elephant.

The auction will take place in Amsterdam on December 4th, with the benefactor remaining anonymous.

Lots included in the sale are from big name jewelry houses such as Van Cleef and Arpels, Buccelati and Cartier among others.
