A California family were given hope after finding their wedding rings in the rubble of their fire-devastated home last month.

Wayne and Haruko Golditch's house was reduced to nothing in the fires that have engulfed a large area in Southern California, reports News10.net.

After the obvious shock and distress caused by discovering their ruined home, which they shared with their child Allen, the couple found strength when they made a wonderful discovery.

While searching the wreck, Mr Golditch came across his wife's engagement ring, and hours later was delighted to find his own platinum wedding ring.

The news provider explained how the recovery of the jewels "put smiles back on the couple's faces".

Just yesterday it was widely reported that a young boy has admitted to accidentally starting the California wildfires, after playing with matches.

The fires have destroyed at least 21 homes according to police in the region.
