Madonna & Guy Ritchie

?As glamorous as it may appear to those on the outside looking in, living the life of a celebrity isn't always easy, and most agree that celebrity marriages take on a unique set of challenges.  Being among the lucky few who can make their celebrity marriages work while living in the spotlight is no easy feat today...but then again...Madonna and Guy Ritchie are not just any celebrity couple.

According to Madonna, "...it's not easy having a good marriage, but I don't want easy.  I thank God every day that I married a man who made me think.  That's my definition of true love." (Source: Sify.com).

The hard work appears to be paying off in a world that has become somewhat cynical about long-term odds for celebrity marriages.  One of the world's most successful female recording artists and the British film director met at a dinner party hosted by Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, at their Wiltshire, England "Lake House" castle in 1998.  Before long, the couple was expecting a child and making plans for the future...big plans.

The royally handsome son of England wowed his queen of pop with a platinum-set, Edwardian-style engagement ring, displaying a total of five carats in round diamonds by celebrated jewelry designer Neil Lane.  The three-stone design represents the past, present and future.

The couple exchanged vows during a lavish Church of Scotland ceremony and reception witnessed by 200 family members and close friends at Skibo Castle on December 22, 2000.  They presented each other simple platinum wedding bands -- hers featuring several small embedded diamonds -- to symbolize their love and commitment to one another.  The celebration continued for several days post nuptials on the private, 7,500-acre Highland estate.

Madonna and Guy enjoy a full life, not to mention a full house, living in London with Madonna's daughter Lourdes, 10; Madonna and Guy's son, Rocco, 7; and David Banda, nearly two, the couple's adopted son from the southeast African Republic of Malawi.

The high-profile couple seems determined to do what it takes to make their marriage a top priority and keep it real.  "I have a successful marriage.  That doesn't mean I don't have my ups and downs, but I have an open and honest relationship, and we work things out.  Guy and I understand that we've embarked on a journey together.  There's no way our relationship would work if we didn't both think the same way."
