Produced by jewelry retailer Ginza Tanaka and toy manufacturer Bandai, the Gundam Fix model stands at 12.5 centimeters tall, is made from 1,400 grams of pure platinum and despite not being up for sale is thought to have a market worth of some about $250,000.

Featuring a 0.15 carat diamond adorning the figure's head, the item is sure to appeal to both platinum purists and fans of the anime and manga series alike as it is on show at Fukuoka's Chuo-ku.

And with the traditional harsh features of the giant robot being softened due to it being produced from platinum, the model offers a rare elegance in what is an extremely unique piece.

Meanwhile, those in the hunt for other distinctive platinum products may wish to purchase a new version of the iPod Shuffle which has recently been crafted out of the beautiful precious metal and encrusted with diamonds, as it sells for a reported $20,000.
