A sensational platinum engagement ring belonging to the late Princess Grace will soon go on display at Sotheby's in New York.
Grace Kelly was a true icon of the 20th century and her journey from Hollywood to Monaco remains one of the most fascinating celebrity tales of all time.
It is now 25 years since her death and Sotheby's has collaborated with the Consulate General of Monaco and the Monaco Government Tourist Office in New York to secure the rights to this stunning exhibition.
Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly announced their engagement in Philadelphia on January 5th, 1956, when the soon-to-be princess showed off her beautiful platinum ring.
Boasting a 10.47-carat emerald-cut diamond set with two baguette diamonds and mounted in platinum, the engagement ring remains one of the most iconic pieces of jewelry from the 20th century. It can also be seen in High Society, which was filmed in the same year.
The poignant exhibition will also showcase the shirtwaist Branell dress that Kelly wore for the announcement of the engagement.
Fashionistas and movie historians will also be drawn to the blue satin column dress and cloak that Kelly wore to the March 1955 Academy Awards, when she picked up the Oscar for the best actress.
"Sotheby's is honored to host Grace, Princess of Monaco: A Tribute to the Life and Legacy of Grace Kelly in New York this October," said James G Niven, vice chairman of Sotheby's and son of legendary actor David Niven.
"The pieces selected for this exhibition highlight her great beauty and style for which she is so well-known, and her personal letters and correspondence show that she was open, friendly, interesting and had a great sense of humor."
To see the beautiful platinum engagement ring, head to New York's Sotheby's between October 15th and October 26th this year.
