Platinum Jewelry Auctioned In Oxford
7/17/2007

An enchanting auction of platinum jewelry has taken place in England, where connoisseurs have taken home a number of fascinating items.

A platinum and diamond solitaire ring was one of the first items sold on July 17th and it fetched a winning bid of $860 (£420). Boasting an old-cut diamond claw set in an 18-carat gold and platinum mount, the ring attracted a great deal of interest from jewlery enthusiasts and few were surprised by the size of the winning bid.

Platinum timepieces seem to be very much in vogue at the moment and so it was no surprise that bidders were keen to get hold of a beautiful platinum and diamond lady's cocktail watch.

With a rectangular dial and black Arabic numerals, this exceptional platinum timepiece was an obvious favorite in Oxford and it eventually sold for $777 (£380).

A pair of platinum cufflinks sold for exactly the same price, reflecting the strength of demand for platinum jewelry for men at present. One bidder also splashed out $613 (£300) on a baguette-cut diamond ring in a striking platinum mount.

Bonhams will host another spectacular sale in Oxford next week, when a platinum-mounted diamond ring will be auctioned for around $715 (£350) and a platinum, sapphire and diamond half-hoop ring is likely to go for approximately $450 (£220).
